FAYS2 Watts Link Installation

S197 Mustang

M Keeler

Here is the FAYS2 Watts link in it's entirety.

It weighs 38lb with most of it being transferred to the sprung weight of the car.

Here is the car before installation start.

The Panhard bar with chassis brace is stock.

The suspension is FRPP and Billet trailing arms are Steeda with urethane bushings.

There is some uncertainty as to whether the FRPP Swaybar will foul on the Watts link setup.

Here we see the Swaybar has been released and swung down out of the way

Panhard & chassis brace are removed

It's almost criminal that Ford decided to save a few cents by not splashing some paint on the Axle assembly.

R.I.P stock Panhard & chassis brace

I did what should have been done at the factory and splashed some paint on the axle

Here we have the frame work of the Watts bolted into place using the stock panhard & brace mounting points.

Clamps attached to the axle

All finished.

Watts central "propeller" fitted with it's turnbuckle links  run out to the axle clamps.

Swaybar swung back into place and fixed

Adjustments made to ensure links are parallel to the ground at normal suspension load and that the propeller sits slightly rotated clockwise

Clearance between the Watts frame and FRPP Swaybar is just under 1/2".  Given the increased rigidly offered by the urethane bushings in the billet trailing arms, I don't anticipate the axle twisting anywhere enough to cause fouling.
